Ivrea is the limit of an ancient glacier! PHOTO GALLERY
More than 10.000 years ago, the Balteo Glacier was shifting down the Aosta Valley from the highest tops of the Alps. The front of the glacier built a huge circle of moraines, which since the end of the Ice-Age are signing the limit of its run. Then Ice has retired, leaving space to a beautiful land full of lakes: The "Morainic Amphitheatre of Ivrea".
In that environment life has developed in a beautiful way, creating habitats for many species of plants and animals.
Spending a day in that area, observing the evidence of the geological and biological events from the Ice-Age to today, is a wonderful experience.
